The Al-Sharah Municipality was granted a loan from the Cities and Villages Development Bank to implement a project for the design, installation, connection, and operation of a 0.5 MW solar energy system via a grid-tied transmission network. The total cost is 489,983.3 Jordanian Dinars, of which 350,000 JOD is the loan from the Cities and Villages Development Bank, with the remaining amount covered by the municipality's own funds.
Work is currently underway in the connection and commissioning phase. The project aims to reduce annual electricity consumption costs, as it is expected to cover approximately 80% of the municipality's monthly electricity consumption. This will contribute to financial savings that can be reinvested in development and service projects that improve living standards and the quality of municipal services.
The project is environmentally friendly and will have a sustainable positive impact on the municipality. The savings resulting from reduced energy costs will enhance its ability to launch new initiatives that create job opportunities for young people and support various segments of society. The project is being implemented by Gazania Solar Energy Company.
